4 Tips for Organizing Your Life

Whether you are running a small business or just trying to run your life, it pays to stay organized. Being an adult is hard enough all on its own, but if your world is constantly in a state of disarray, that can be super stressful! It can be difficult to try and keep track of events, bills, work tasks, chores, appointments, meals, kids, pets, spouses….well, you get the idea. Today I’d like to share with you a few tips to help you get organized, so that you can breathe a little easier during the day to day grind.

1. Invest in a Planner — I absolutely LOVE my planner. I am a very visual person, and it helps me immensely to be able to have an overview of my entire month. I also like to write more detailed information in each individual day. This way, I know what tasks I need to accomplish that day. As a virtual assistant, being able to organize my thoughts and tasks in this fashion helps to ensure that I don’t forget to do anything, especially for my clients. I love that this planner has Organized Chaos on the front, as that is how I feel most days. Having a planner definitely helps me to conquer the world on a daily basis.

2.  Develop a Daily Routine — I don’t know about you, but I am not a morning person. I’ve spent many mornings driving to work wondering if I forgot to do something, or realizing that I did forget to do something at home. It can be really frustrating at times. This is exactly why it is a good idea to develop a daily routine. You can get a piece of paper and write down exactly what you need to accomplish in a day. You can then figure out the most efficient order to go about doing things. This works best for morning and nightly routines. It will take a few weeks, but eventually your routine will become second nature, and then you don’t have to worry quite so much about if you forgot to do something.

3. Keep Track of Your Bills — Nobody likes to worry about missing payments on their monthly bills. Unfortunately, sometimes the bills don’t come in the mail when they are supposed to, or you may miss the email that contained your monthly statement. If this happens, it just causes more headaches. I keep track of what bills I need to pay, when they are due, and if i paid them. It makes things simple, because I have the confidence that things are paid when they need to be so I don’t have to worry about it. You can find a printable copy for your own use here.

4. Stop and Smell the Roses — This one may sound silly, but I’m serious! Periodically, you just need to take a few minutes to stop and breath. We live in such a fast-paced world, and it is the norm to constantly be on the go. Sometimes though, you just need to take time for yourself to relax. You have to take care of your mind and body in order to be in prime form to deal with all of the things that life throws at us on a daily basis. Being exhausted and having a foggy mind makes life much more difficult. Don’t forget to love yourself in between taking care of everyone and everything else.

These are just a few tips that I thought I would share that make my life a little easier.  It may take a little getting used to at first, but being organized takes away some of the stresses that we have to deal with in life. I honestly do believe that the most important thing is to take care of yourself. Your well-being is so important, and being in your best mental and physical shape will help you take on the world and accomplish everything that you need to. I hope this makes your life a little bit easier!
